WATER STOREAGE

Water storage tanks can be either fixed or portable and should meet the following criteria: They must have a minimum capacity of 4 liters per occupant per day (at least 12 liters per person). A larger capacity is needed if there's a flushing toilet or other water-using appliances (showers, washing machines, dishwashers). Finally, the tanks must be durable enough for typical use. When determining the maximum number of occupants, only the capacity of tanks fixed to or stored inside the vehicle should be considered. Owners may carry extra water separately (like in a tow vehicle). For larger portable tanks (over 25 liters), a mechanism to help load them should be provided.

FIXED TOILETS

It is sufficiently large, durable, and has ample volume to operate for at least three days with the vehicle's maximum certified occupancy. It is permanently affixed to the vehicle with a rigidly mounted base, and does not require removal for waste disposal

For convenient in-vehicle use, toilets should provide ample headroom and elbow room. The blackwater tank should have sufficient capacity to safely store the waste.

FOR TANKS UNDERNEARTH THE VEHICLE ESPECIALLY MOTORHOME, CARAVAN, LWB VAN NEED A EVACUATION HOSE TO DRAIN GREY WATER.

For convenient waste disposal and to prevent spills inside the vehicle, the waste evacuation valve and connection point should be located externally. Secure caps on waste outlets will help prevent leaks during transport to a dump station. Blackwater tank outlets should have a minimum diameter of 25mm, and non-pumped outlets a minimum of 40mm. A sufficiently long discharge hose, approximately 3 meters, will ensure easy access to the dump station; however, shorter hoses may suffice, minimizing the risk of wastewater pooling and spillage. Remember to always offload at an approved dump station.

VENTILATION SYSTEM

A ventilation system is designed to prevent unpleasant odors and maintain comfortable temperatures within the vehicle. This could include operable windows, vents, and/or a mechanical ventilation system. For optimal performance, vent outlets should ideally terminate at the roof or near the roofline, away from doors, windows, and other openings. This helps to prevent unpleasant odors and gases from becoming a problem. If roofline termination isn't feasible, the vent outlets should extend above the flood level of the lowest sanitary fitting. The vent outlet diameter should be at least 12mm and appropriately sized for the connected fixtures.

RUBBISH STORAGE

Sufficient in size, volume, and durability to operate for at least three days at maximum certified occupancy; designed for their intended purpose and function; installed securely and appropriately to maintain functionality throughout the certification period; and constructed from suitable, non-toxic, non-corrodible, and stable materials.

SINK

Proper installation of sinks requires appropriate sizing, sealing, and connection to a suitable waste pipe enabling drainage to the wastewater system's tank. Secure fastening of the sink, its fittings, and pipes is mandatory. Sinks should be appropriately sized for their intended purpose; for instance, a sink should be large enough to accommodate dishwashing.
